Lebenslauf:

Tanja Döring has a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Hamburg, Germany. From April 2008 until October 2011, she was a research associate at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Her research interests include tangible interaction, gestural interaction, mobile interaction and interactive surfaces. Since November 2011, she is a research associate in the Digital Media Group at the University of Bremen: http://dm.tzi.de/people/staff/tanja-doering/ .

Multi-Touch and Gestural Interaction
We apply multi-touch interaction in diverse settings and on different surfaces, e.g.: we developed a multi-touch steering wheel for cars. Presented at CHI 2011, press article (Discovery Channel): http://news.discovery.com/autos/steering-wheel-interface-driving-110606.html . Together with Max Pfeiffer, Dagmar Kern, Paul Marshall (University of Warwick, UK) and Johannes Schöning (DFKI).
Materials for Tangible Interaction: Ephemeral User Interfaces
Exploration of material qualities for tangible interaction, e.g.: design of a Soap Bubble Interface (for more information see TEI'10 publication or http://www.axelsylvester.com/soapbubble-interface/ ). Together with Axel Sylvester.
Multi-Touch Technologies
We have built two multi-touch tables (one FTIR and one DSI setup) as platforms for research work and student projects on multi-touch interaction.
Combination of Small and Large Screen Interaction
Mobile Phones nowadays offer a broad variety of applications and functions, but interaction with small devices is still cumbersome. One research direction to overcome this schortcoming and furthermore add the value of integrated private and public display settings as well as the support of group interaction is to combine small devices with large surfaces like interactive tabletops. Together with Michael Hoppe and Alireza Sahami.
Designing Tangible User Interfaces by Physical Composition
We are currently developing a toolkit for tangible prototyping and end-user design that is based on visual tracking and projection and thus can be used without any wiring. Together with Bastian Pfleging and Chris Kray (University of Newcastle, UK).
